Previewrama :: God of War PSP

SONY fanboys have been consistently awaiting a second God of War; the original popular franchise hit in March 2005 and the second hit the PS2 this past March. Now, though, Ready at Dawn (its developer and the developer of the hit game, Daxter) is planning to send Kratos and friends to the portable device come sometime this November. If SONY was planning to skip GDC for the PSP in order to provide information about its games later in the year, we wouldn’t mind at all.

God of War’s original storyline focused on Kratos’ horrifying fate and going back in time to battle enemies. Its unique system allowed for several enemies to be on screen at one point in time. Now, with a PSP version on the way, Ready at Dawn hopes to have a very original storyline that both promotes uniqueness AND ties in with God of War and God of War 2‘s storylines.

Daxter was a graphically spectacular game and had a superb storyline. When it comes to recreating a different franchise on the PSP, we hope it is very much the same. Ready At Dawn has admitted to the press that Daxter was using less of the PSP’s graphical processing power so we can imagine that God of War PSP will use somewhere near 70% to 80%. With something like this, it could truly be a whole new feat accomplished on the PSP.

We’re hoping that Ready At Dawn will pack as many extras in there as possible. (Maybe mini-games that uses God of War’s characters or help you practice for real life battles?) But, what we’re really hoping for, is that there is a lengthy storyline and a lot to love. Many PS2-to-PSP titles suffer from lack of content. Many people said that this was the imminent downfall of Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Killzone: Liberation, GTA, and perhaps Daxter itself (we beg to differ). If RaD can bring a very lengthy game, we wouldn’t mind at all.

We’re hoping for the best and perhaps we’ll hear more at the upcoming E3Expo or TGS. Thankfully, GameSpot says that God of War PSP is coming November 1st, 2007, so our wait for information should be limited.
