IGN has been running a feature for weeks now entitled “The Future of PSP”. They consistently interview developers of many games. Highlighted in the feature have been such studios as EA Games (who develops Madden and The Sims for PSP), ReadyatDawn (the infamous developer of Daxter and God of War), and Q? Entertainment (of Lumines and Every Extend Extra). Now, IGN interviewed the LocoRoco developers and they had some excellent things to say about LocoRoco and the PSP.

An excerpt comes after the jump:

:: Explain how your team approaches PSP development? Do you view the system as a portable that needs portable-oriented games, or do you have a less specific view of it as just one of the many systems to bring your creation to?

I approached the game design planning with the idea of making good use of the PSP’s advantages — its big and beautiful screen, its ability to render Bezier curves, and its powerful processing ability.

Clearly, the developers must’ve been excited to create a world on a beautiful screen that was super portable. Perhaps the best news is that the developers are attempting to create new games in the future. I’m excited:

:: What do you see is the future of PlayStation Portable?

I think that PlayStation Portable has a bright future. People will see more titles which use the PSP’s high-powered processing and big and beautiful screen in the future. I have a lot of game ideas for PSP and look forward working on more PSP titles.
