The Academy of International Arts & Sciences (AIAS) honors excellence in gaming each and every year, and this year was no different. Despite the boatload of DS games that catapulted handheld-only charts, it was LocoRoco that snagged a “Handheld Game of the Year” nomination. This game after the game earned VGA noms and even won BAFTAs. The complete noms can be found here, but LocoRoco was nominated in many other areas including:

  • Outstanding Innovation in Gaming with Wii Sports, Brain Age, Viva Pinata, and Gears of War
  • Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition with Call of Duty 3, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Black
  •  Childrens Game of the Year with Blue Rescue Team, Kim Possible: What’s the Switch, Over the Hedge, and Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
  • Handheld Game of the Year with Elite Beat Agents, New Super Mario Bros., Brain Age, and Lego Star Wars II

Congratulations to LocoRoco & its development team! What a great achievement to be one of the only PSP games to represent great development that poured into the handheld last year!
