RS: Vegas Preview

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas is the latest Tom Clancy incarnation, created by Ubisoft. The PS3 and 360 versions are very similar to previous Clancy shooters, but the PSP version is completely different, following a new storyline unique to only the PSP and unparalleled (well, except for MGS) infrastructure. It is great to see such a beautiful shooter heading to the PSP, nonetheless await its arrival.

You once again try to take down terrorists by playing two characters in this new shooter–either Brian Armstrong or Shawn Rivers. Armstrong is your go-to guy on the ground and Rivers is a good sniper shooter. The storyline is very similar to other Clancy-terrorist games, but the level structure is very different from console versions with, as IGN says, boxes and environmental blockers to not only provide a shield when shooting your opponents, but also challenge you in many ways.

There are so many different ways that this game will be successful, particularly its infrastructure capability. One can wonder how Ubisoft will make this game different than many other online play duds. In Vegas, you will be able to play a campaign by which every man is for himself, fighting to survive. Otherwise, you may also play a team survival, by which you are pitted to destroy your enemies with a large team. Ad-Hoc capabilities will also be included.

Vegas doesn’t arrive for another few weeks–it might even be delayed further–but Ubisoft is obviously intent on perfecting online play, while not skimping on single-player story modes. Hopefully, at least. I’m looking forward to the game and the blog will continue to cover it throughout the next few weeks up until its release. Enjoy!

It was actually delayed from February to April and now it has been pushed back to May. I suggest you look to find a refund because this game doesn’t seem to actually be coming out in the near future. Just remember:: never pre-order games without trailer previews or websites.
