MGS:PO Kills in Japan, 60GB PSP on its Way?

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops is Konami’s latest incarnation of the MGS series, which has graced consoles since the beginning of time! So, it should’ve been no surprise that Portable Ops–which was heavily hyped with the arrival of a sleek GPS receiver, numerous on-air commercials, and spectacular previews–killed in Japan. Selling nearly 180,000 copies, PO was only second to Pokemon and it helped to surge PSP sales, where the device pushed nearly 140,000 copies. Congrats to Konami, SONY, and hopefully this isn’t the end of the surge! As PSPFanboy points out: good software= good sales!

Samsung, the holy maker of everything hard drives and microchips (including a multi-million dollar deal that makes the iPod’s flash drives…), is reportedly getting ready to assist SONY in making a 60GB harddrive for an upcoming PSP redesign that has been rumored way too many times. This could actually fit in with SONY’s plans to bring out (or partner up with) a video service to bring content to PSP owners who’ve been waiting for over a year. Once again, this is all a rumor, but if SONY decides to pair up an affordable video service with 60 gigs for mah videos, photos, music, game saves, and emulation games, you know where I’ll be when it comes out.

May both Gerald Ford (38th President, 93) and James Brown (singer, 73) rest in peace.

I have had my dirty little hands on every Sony console (PS1, PSOne, PS2, PSTwo, PSP, and PS3) within at MOST a month of release, you can bet your arse that when a 60GB PSP rolls out, I will be all over that like white on rice. Storage is the biggest problem plaguing the PSP next to the stuck pixels (don’t anyone try to argue this, I have them, and it says its “normal” in my manual and “not a defect”) and lack of L2/R2 buttons for PS1 emulation, though the latter is already worked around…

I just hope I dont see “Your 60GB HDD will only hold 128MB, this is normal and not a defect” on the cover in big, bold letters…….
