BREAKING: LocoRoco: The Complete World Map

SONY, whose spent millions of dollars to advertise LocoRoco in Japan and in the US, has been reluctant to give up on it with numerous demos. But, it’s about time they’ve brought upon map guides to help the struggling player–especially after watching Jlmmy trounce them all with his own world maps. They’re finally here, though, in perfect .PDF condition to satisfy your needs. I’m trying to convert them into .JPEG files and will get back to you all–this will be so the PSP owner can transfer it to their PSP!

EDIT: Since, the LocoRoco walkthroughs have been resurrected on our forums, Beyond Loco. Beyond Loco has also relocated to a new website, though.

Sonic Rivals- Impressions, Links, and More…

Sonic Rivals is SEGA’s latest adaptation of the classic Sonic series, except it is far unlike its 3D console counterparts–it involves a story where you are catapulted into an all racing-fest full of competitiveness and some classic 16 bit Sonic play. Sonic Rivals fails where it lacks features, but does wonders where it offers superb features.

BREAKING: LocoRoco Sequel Confirmed

PSPFanboy’s rendition of a second LocoRoco cover.

Has a LocoRoco sequel been confirmed? Hellz yeah! Phil Harrison recently spoke to MTV News, where he talked LocoRoco, amongst other things. He basically sat there and confirmed a sequel, saying that “new friends” will appear. Which is enough to say that we might expect a sequel sometime in late 2007 and early 2008. TCLCloud and I have been talking about what a sequel to the hit game might look like for a long time.

Did he have any year-end thoughts on perhaps the most unconventional game Sony published this year, “LocoRoco”? “It was a very successful game for us and we’re continuing to evolve the franchise,” he said. “We’re going to bring ‘LocoRoco’ back in a couple of new ways with some new friends in the future.”

What we know:

  • New friends
  • A sequel has been confirmed

What we want:

  • More, unique levels with new, more bizarre worlds
  • Interesting mini-games that pivot LocoRocos into new terrority (maybe a LocoRoco puzzler & a set of sports games?)
  • New colors for LocoRoco that push the barrier
  • The ability to combine different colored LocoRocos
  • Extension of the LocoRoco house and a better level creator
  • A PS3 demo that would make use of the tilt-sensing feature

We’ll be back in a few minutes with more. Obviously, this brings new life to our blog besides reporting about the world of demos, so stick around.

I’m the Person of the Year, Christmas Buyer Guides, Crisis Core Previews

Beautiful, isn’t it? I’m the person of the year! Actually, we’re all the person of the year. This comes from a magazine whose given people like FDR, Bono and the Gates’, and Martin Luther King this coveted award. TIME–whose really using CNN as a venue to all this press buzz–claims that we’ve all started this need for user-created content and we’ve all been about the information age, and blah blah blah. Then, Soledad O’Brien makes a joke about black people. Oh, and somebody, like usual, has video of this mess.

Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII was previewed at Jump Fiesta, and all of the editors got their hands on Square Enix’s ever-lasting project. Expected for 2007, IGN claims that while it bares the FFVII name, it will be much better than many of the other, recent, compilations of the game:

Personally, I think all the “Compilation of Final Fantasy VII” products released so far have been second rate. But Crisis Core looks so good that it could turn things around on its own. It all depends, of course, on how compelling a game Square Enix manages to put together in the end. They’ve waited this long, so let’s hope they don’t rush things and end up giving us a game worthy of the FFVII name.

PALGN, an Australian gaming site, had a big holiday list to tell you about. They give LocoRoco a spot on their list of 12, which is nice to hear…

Holiday Guide: Shooter’s Paradise

Get Loco: Holiday Guide 2006
Shooter’s Paradise

Yet another comprehensive holiday guide, this time for PSP owners who can’t get enough of good shooters. Whether they be futuristic, FPS, online/multiplayer, etc., etc. Time to get shooting! This year alone, MANY shooters have graced the PSP, so the big question is: which one of all of them should you buy?

EDIT: There’s some dispute over our picks. Many wondered if Killzone or GUN were viable choices for the bottom of our list and others wondered if GTA should be considered a shooter when half of the time, it implements many other features besides action and adeventure…so drumroll because we have a replacement…

[UPDATE] Christmas Demo Available…Now!

Merry Christmas to all! The demo is finally available to all and boy will it be fun (when I download and begin to play it….). Here’s how you can download it:

1) Download the Japanese version (v3.02 required).

2) Download the European version and North American version (v3.02 required).

4) Download a version for v2.80 and v3.00 from PSP117 here.

EDIT: The save file is PSP\GAME\NPJG90001 (Japanese) or PSP\GAME\ UCUS98662 (North America) . Unless you are using PSP117’s version, you MUST have v3.02 for this to work. Also, recharge your battery before downloading a new fir mware update. There is no longer a mobile version available for download.

Tsutomo Kuono in Austria, YourPSP has Christmas Demo…

YourPSP, the European PSP site that set up shop nearly a year ago, always gets demos before the US, doesn’t it? The Christmas Demo is available in English (and any other language spoken by European countries where the PSP is sold) at the site. You must, though, have firmware v3.02 and an account at YourPSP (..which also means you need a European PSP..).

Tsutomo Kuono, the creator of LocoRoco, was in Vienna, Austria, where he drew LocoRoco at a shop in the city. One of the beautiful drawings is shown below, but three full-size photos are after the jump. Enjoy!
