Hold Your Breath, Nintendy Fanboys: Wii Hasn’t Won Yet…

Yes, I love my Wii, but I do understand why I bought it: motion + wireless. And Super Smash Bros. Brawl. And perhaps Mario Strikers Charged. Either way, despite my recent Wii purchase, I am also angry at Nintendo because despite great sales and a lot of buzz, they aren’t fulfilling a lot of promises I’d hoped they kept. For one, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption will ship August 27th–a few months shy of a year after the Wii launch without online multiplayer, when Nintendo promised that it would ship at launchtime and include the coveted multiplayer. Secondly, there’s more confusion: Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a game that so many have been waiting for, will not be playable at E3, causing quite a bit of concern. These two mega-hyped games now put us in denial about the Wii’s standing amongst the consoles. Even despite this, there’s still a lot of third party hope: Guitar Hero 3, Madden NFL 08, FIFA 08, and Boogie look very hawt.
