iTunes Plus Promises DRM-Free Music With One Condition…
Millions of downloads and billions in revenue later, Apple’s hit iTunes has been quite the companion to the mighty iPod. No other company (not even the giant, Microsoft) has been able to dethrone Apple’s monstrous “monopoly” (if you may) on the market. Many simply ignore the notion of iTunes, though, because it is DRM protected and only for iTunes. PSP owners can’t use the software giant, for example. After a shocking announcement from recording company-giant EMI, going DRM-free, iTunes “Plus” will include their whole catalog for download. In addition, the new iTunes “Plus” will allow for you to download DRM-free versions of music for nearly a dollar more–and you can even convert portions of your music into unprotected music for $0.30USD per compatible song. This idea is indeed a smart one, as Apple’s veteran software will get even more of a backing. But perhaps it benefits owners of the Zune, PSP, Mp3 Phones, and others because it will finally allow us to get the latest songs onto our devices without the hassle of DRM protection or the legal risks of illegal downloads. PSPFanboy’s Andrew Yoon even has a guide to show you exactly how to achieve the small task of transferring DRM-free music. Enjoy!–I know I will.

BREAKING: Killzone Beta Now Available…
If you were tired of continuous delays, reports, and anticipation, you might finally be excited today to find that the Killzone: Liberation infrastructure/online gameplay patch is finally available. This highly addictive, futuristic shooter is used in a very unique approach–while its console counterparts love the FPS camera angles, this game is a fully-functional FPS with third-person camera angles. This provides a way to finally see anything behind and in front of you. (To test the game out, see the download link for the demo here) The redesigned Killzone.com is much easier to use, but it is clearly slow and unfortunate at the same time. You may download the patch at your own discretion there. Have fun.

Say Wha? Sonic Rivals Sequel Headed to PSP?
My review and follow-up (plus all of my coverage) of Sonic Rivals was an extensive, but cautious process. Thanks to recent SEGA renditions where the 3D Sonic versions stink, many Sonic fans have been wary of just picking up a game. Sales for the first were modest, but reviews were pretty good. If anything is to be said, SEGA should improve on the game’s overall quality by fixing some framerate and Ad-Hoc problems that many have complained of experiencing. If anything else, they should add full-time online gaming support and mini-games to add longevity to the game. Furthermore, they should build on the PSP’s gorgeous graphics. We can’t wait!

PSP to Double as Phone…
The tech-faithful were happy about the release of the PSP because it allowed them to do so much. They dreamed of SONY offering VoIP (that stands for Voice over Internet Protocol, basically a fancy way of saying “speaking to people over the internet”) and instant messaging features and SONY said that the capabilities were limitless. Now, BT, a British-based company, is setting up a VoIP service for PSP owners. All they need is the Go! Cam (Chotto Shot for Europe) to get going and they can speak to other PSP owners. The new service will only be available in the UK for the time-being, but it’s great to see third-party tech companies still interested in creating new features for the PSP.

PSPFanboy Heads to Podcasting Land!
Get ready for a whole new podcasting experience. We usually don’t speak about all these new podcasts, but this one is surely worth checking out. Andrew Yoon and the rest of the team have been mulling doing a podcast and have finally gotten the guts to do so. Do note: this one’s called “Episode 0″ because Yoon is still experimenting with what to do with the podcast. Let it be known that the podcast will also have a bit to do about the PS3 (to our dismay; we like video game podcasts, but we like them PSP-only podcasts the most) and will feature contributions from other Weblog-ers (most likely from either PS3Fanboy or Joystiq). We can’t wait for more! Click here to access the XML link, the Mp3 file, and a PSP-formatted Mp3 file (to download from PSPFanboy’s mobile website). Enjoy!
