Screens & Details for WipEout Pulse Now Available!

WipEout Pulse was confirmed a few months back, but it received a name yesterday. Eurogamer jumped on the gun and had screenshots today that looked excellent. The graphics truly look stellar (even more than Pure). In addition, PSPFanboy revealed what’s coming:
- Pulse will feature 24 new tracks.
- Licensed music from Mason, Loco Dice and Stanton Warriors.
- Multiplayer via Ad-Hoc and Infrastructure
- Eight new teams, including “EG-X”.
- New “Mag-strip” feature allows ships to magnetically stick to tracks. This will allow certain tracks to feature loops, 90 degree plummets, and other mind-destroying tricks.
- Custom soundtracks allow playback of MP3s stored on Memory Stick.
- Photo Mode captures in-game screenshots.
- Like Wipeout Pure, the game will feature downloadable content, such as new tracks and songs, immediately after release.
I’ll have speculation of what I think might be coming soon.

DJ Max Portable 2 Demo Now Available!

The Korean darling that has dazzled international critics everywhere is DJ Max Portable 2. The game’s stellar graphics, amazing gameplay, and spellbinding entertainment all adds up and creates a game like no other. It’s basically a music-game. You make music by clicking a set of buttons, but this game is no “button-masher”. You find yourself in consistently tough levels trying to prove you’ve got what it takes. The 2nd version can be pre-ordered at Play-Asia, but you can download a demo for now.

New Crisis Core Trailer Out!
Yesiree! That’s right. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is perhaps one of the most anticipated games for PSP ever (well besides the flailing Gran Turismo Mobile and perhaps Monster Hunter 2nd). And now, a new trailer has surfaced. It shows the beautifully written and screened storyline (despite it being in all Japanese) and captures the glory of new characters in a small 5 minutes. Perhaps the biggest thing is that it does include gameplay clips. Enjoy.

Holy Auricom! WipEout Pure Sequel Confirmed and Named

WipEout Pure was a futuristic racing game launched with the PSP. Very few people could relate it to any other racing game available for the PSP, and it quickly sold 1 million copies. When PSPFanboy reported that a sequel was coming, many wondered the name. It finally does have one: WipEout Pulse. I hope the new game includes some new features: perhaps not just new racing courses and vehicles, but new ways of racing completely and mini-games/infrastructure gameplay. The PSP will not be dead if a sequel like this comes out. Additionally, a PS3 vert has been semi-confirmed.

Analysis: More Digital Distribution, SONY

Analysis
More Digital Distribution, SONY
******
Recently, I’ve gotten to thinking a bit more about next-generation consoles and the future of gaming. I think it might be because I’ve gotten into both genres–I now am in the next-generation with a Nintendo Wii and in the current-generation with my PSP. In the future of gaming, what will separate current-generation from next-generation besides just a few graphics-tweaking? Features and Content, I believe.

One Milestone After Another…
Just on the heels of the PSP crossing the 5 million mark in Japan, our blog has accumulated 20,000 unique visitors since beginning last June. We’ve quickly become the #1 destination for LocoRoco news, a very popular PSP blog, and an enjoyable community. I started the blog on a whim without any notice. I was to run it 100% by myself in my household as a hobby.
Instead, I began partnerships, began podcasting, and even began using Web processing apps to create newsletters. The blog quietly created a very cultivating underground following of LocoRoco that I enjoyed, and we quietly passed the 1,000 mark within three months. Considering everything against us: starting in the Summer when people are on vacation, blogging about a game that didn’t live up to sales expectations, etc, we captivated audiences and gained some recognition.
I’m planning to change the blog up this upcoming May, and I’d like for you to join me. Meanwhile, I’d like to thank the people who’ve made it possible. Thanks so much, –loco.

Teh Confirmed!: God of War PSP Coming Soon
You might want to consider NOT throwing away your PSP just yet. Kratos must be happy, because he’ll be mobilized come later this year for God of War PSP. Little details are known about this, but we previously posted an article speculating and then confirming/speculating again. All of this blog build-up of rumors and speculation might have led to an early confirmation. That’s, yet again, speculation, but it’s always great to do this, right?
Joystiq 1Up had a very nice break-down at exactly what might/may/will be included on the game come later this year when its released (in addition to news on the PS3 version, which does include support for rumbling!). This includes information that ReadyatDawn (who helped to produce the original and its sequel) WILL in fact be producing this game. Additionally, the developers are working out new ways to play the game because of the lack of a second analog nub. In addition, they’re expecting the game to be slightly different in terms of level development, but nobody has any clue right now about the storyline and whether it will be a port-like game or a new experience.
In ways of PS3 news, there was more to report. God of War 3 will be a PS3-exclusive, and will include 1080p support, rumble support, and have support for motion. All of these features will mean that this will be a full-fledged PS3 game. The developers aren’t skipping anything to ship this game. I like this a lot; despite the fact that content and games will be somewhat dry at the beginning, SONY and its third-party developers will be delivering in the end. At least some promising news for PS3 owners and potential PS3 owners.

Analysis: Is the PSP Dead?

Post-GDC Analysis
Is the PSP Dead?
******
SONY hyped the PSP back in 2004 and 2005, before revealing it and releasing it. Everyone was very giddy; someone was finally willing to make a long-term stab at fighting Nintendo in the handheld race. After all, SONY was #1 with the PSOne and PS2. Would the same success continue with the handheld market? Some believed so, but the DS Lite crashed the PSP’s party and prevented our favorite handheld from stabbing at the market any further.
